ABOUT

Helia Correia is a visual artist with a background in painting, collage, and digital art. Born in Portugal and raised in Northern California, Helia is a dual citizen of the United States and European Union. From a very early age, art has been at the forefront of her identity. She is classically trained as an artist and filmmaker, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University, in San Francisco. Her professional trajectory led her to Los Angeles, where she built a successful career as a producer for unscripted and documentary television, while continuing to explore her visual style as a interdisciplinary artist. She is known for her intricate and evocative works created through the process of bricolage, a practice of constructing art from diverse, found materials. She transforms discarded objects and salvaged cast-offs into cohesive artworks that explore themes of memory, consumerism, and the overlooked beauty in everyday detritus. Her fine art work has been invited to international exhibitions, including in London and New York. Helia currently resides in New York City, where she continues to cultivate her creative identity as a mixed media artist.
